Tucker + Tate Bralette – Comfortable Everyday Support for Growing Girls
We designed this bralette for girls who need comfortable first-time support without the complexity of traditional bras. The seamless racerback construction eliminates pressure points while providing gentle shaping under tees and layered tops.
Our signature cotton-blend fabric moves with her through sports practice, school days, and sleepovers. The wide underband stays in place without digging in, and the pullover style means no fumbling with hooks or clasps. Available in solid colors and subtle patterns that coordinate with our full sleepwear and basics collection.
What makes this bralette different

Fabric & construction details
We source a proprietary cotton-elastane knit that balances softness against durability through hundreds of wash cycles. The 92% cotton content keeps her cool during gym class, while the 8% elastane ensures the bralette returns to shape after every wear.
Seams are flatlock-stitched to lie completely flat against skin—no chafing under backpack straps or seat belts. The racerback cuts are drafted wider than standard athletic tank straps so they stay hidden under school uniform polos and cap-sleeve tees. Every edge is finished with heat-bonded hems rather than traditional elastic binding, which can dig into ribs as girls grow between sizes.

Sizing & fit guidance
Our bralette sizing follows Tucker + Tate’s standard numeric age ranges, but we recommend measuring around the ribcage just under the bust for the most accurate fit. XS suits chest measurements of 26–28 inches, S fits 28–30 inches, M covers 30–32 inches, L handles 32–34 inches, and XL accommodates 34–36 inches.
The pullover design means she’ll need to be able to comfortably slip the band over her head and shoulders—if she’s between sizes or has broader shoulders, size up. The wide underband runs true to size and shouldn’t require breaking in. Most families stock two or three so there’s always a clean one in the drawer while others cycle through the wash.
Care & longevity
Toss these bralettes in the washing machine with regular loads—no delicate cycle or mesh bags required. We tested the fabric through 200+ laundry cycles without significant pilling or loss of elasticity. Tumble dry on medium heat or line dry; both methods preserve the underband’s stretch.
Avoid fabric softener, which can coat the cotton fibers and reduce breathability over time. The removable foam padding should stay in place during machine washing, but if it shifts, simply pop it back into the interior pocket while the bralette is still damp. White and light colors may show wear sooner under heavy rotation, so many parents start with darker shades for everyday use.

Common questions about Tucker + Tate bralettes
Our bralettes are designed for girls ages 6 through 16, though sizing is based on chest measurement rather than age. The XS fits most 6- to 7-year-olds, while XL typically suits 14- to 16-year-olds. We recommend measuring around the ribcage just below the bust and consulting our size chart rather than relying solely on age, since growth rates vary widely during these years.
Yes, the foam inserts slide out through a small opening in the interior lining and can be left out if your daughter prefers a completely unlined bralette. Many families remove the padding for summer wear and reinsert it during cooler months when layering under thinner fabrics. The pocket opening is small enough that the pads won't shift during wear or washing if you choose to keep them in place.
Our bralette offers gentle shaping and coverage without the structure of a training bra that includes cups, underwires, or hook closures. It's ideal for girls who need light support and modesty under clothing but aren't ready for or don't need the shaping of a traditional bra. The pullover design also eliminates the coordination required to fasten back hooks, making it easier for younger girls to dress independently.
The underband is designed to distribute pressure evenly across the ribcage rather than concentrating it in a narrow line. We use a plush-backed elastic that's softer against skin than standard bra elastics. If your daughter has very sensitive skin or sensory sensitivities, we recommend trying the bralette for a few hours at home first. The vast majority of our customers report no irritation, even with all-day wear.
Most families find that three to four bralettes provide enough coverage for a school week with mid-week laundry. If your daughter is very active or you prefer doing laundry less frequently, five to six will ensure she always has a clean option available. Keep in mind these dry quickly, so even two can work if you're comfortable with daily or every-other-day washing.
We use colorfast dyes that resist fading through at least 100 wash cycles based on our lab testing. Darker colors like navy and black may show some softening over time, but they won't turn gray or dingy with normal care. White and light heather gray maintain their brightness best when washed in cold water and dried on medium heat rather than high.
The Tucker + Tate bralette works well for low- to moderate-impact activities like dance, yoga, and recreational gymnastics. For competitive gymnastics or high-impact sports like basketball or running, we recommend our Sports Bralette, which features compression panels and a tighter underband for additional support. Many dancers appreciate the seamless racerback design of this everyday style because it stays invisible under leotards.
