Tucker and Tate Hoodie – Soft, Durable Kids' Pullover
Our Tucker and Tate hoodie is the pullover kids reach for first—and the one that survives season after season. We designed it with ultra-soft cotton-blend fleece that stays cozy without pilling, reinforced flatlock stitching at the shoulders and cuffs to handle playground wear, and a roomy kangaroo pocket big enough for treasures and fidgeting hands.
Graphic prints are applied with water-based inks that won't crack or fade, and we cut the hood with a drawcord-free design for safety and simplicity. The ribbed hem and cuffs keep their shape through countless washes, and the relaxed fit layers easily over tees or under jackets. Whether it's a weekend at the park or the daily carpool routine, this hoodie is the everyday essential parents trust and kids actually want to wear.
Fabric & construction details

Fabric engineered for active kids
We chose a 60/40 cotton-polyester fleece blend because it balances softness with real-world durability. Pure cotton feels great but shrinks and loses shape; pure polyester is tough but traps heat. Our blend gives you the best of both—breathable comfort that moves with your child and holds up to weekly washing.
The interior is brushed for warmth without bulk, so the hoodie layers under a winter coat or works solo on cool fall mornings. Flatlock seams lie flat against the skin, eliminating the chafing you get with traditional overlocked stitching. Every seam is double-passed for strength, and we reinforce stress points at the pocket opening and hood attachment because those are the first places kids’ hoodies fail.

Graphics that last as long as the garment
We print every design with water-based inks that bond to the fabric instead of sitting on top like plastisol transfers. That means graphics stay soft to the touch, won’t crack after a dozen washes, and fade at the same rate as the base fabric—no peeling edges or stiff squares.
Our design team refreshes prints seasonally, from classic stripes and color-blocks to playful animal illustrations and retro sport motifs. Each graphic is scaled for kids’ proportions, positioned where it won’t distort when arms are raised, and sized to stay visible as the hoodie gets handed down or worn oversized.
Sizing and fit guidance
The Tucker and Tate hoodie runs true to size with a relaxed, non-restrictive fit. Sleeve length is cut slightly longer to accommodate growth spurts, and the body is roomy enough to layer a long-sleeve tee underneath without binding.
For reference, a size 5 measures approximately 15 inches pit-to-pit and 19 inches from shoulder to hem. We recommend sizing up if your child is between sizes or if you want extended wear through the season. The ribbed cuffs and hem are forgiving—they’ll cinch gently at the wrist and waist even when the overall fit is on the looser side.

Questions about the Tucker and Tate hoodie
Minimal shrinkage is normal with any cotton-blend garment, but we pre-shrink the fabric during manufacturing to reduce it. Wash cold and tumble dry on low to maintain the original fit. Expect about 1-2% length reduction after the first wash, then the size stabilizes. If your child is between sizes, we recommend sizing up to account for this and to extend wearability through growth spurts.
Yes. We designed the hood without a drawcord to eliminate strangulation risk, following CPSC safety guidelines for children's outerwear. The hood opening is cut wide enough to fit over a bike helmet if needed, and it stays in place without ties or toggles. This makes the Tucker and Tate hoodie suitable for toddlers through pre-teens.
Refer to our size chart on the product page—it lists chest width and body length for each size. The hoodie runs true to size with a relaxed fit. If your child typically wears a 5T, order a size 5. If they're tall for their age or you want room to layer, size up one. The ribbed cuffs and hem will adjust, so a slightly loose fit won't look baggy.
Yes, but use low heat. High heat can cause the cotton fibers to shrink and may degrade the elastic in the ribbed cuffs over time. For maximum longevity, we recommend line-drying or laying flat to dry. If you do use the dryer, remove the hoodie while it's still slightly damp and let it air-dry the rest of the way to prevent over-drying.
No. We use water-based inks that bond with the fabric at a molecular level rather than sitting on top like vinyl transfers. This means the graphic ages with the garment—it may fade slightly after 40-50 washes, but it won't crack, peel, or flake. Turn the hoodie inside-out before washing to extend the life of the print even further.
It's fully unisex. We cut the body, sleeves, and hood with a universal fit that works for any child, and we avoid gendered color palettes or graphics. Boys and girls wear it equally well, and many families hand it down between siblings of different genders without issue.
The pocket opening is approximately 7 inches wide and 5 inches deep, with reinforced bar-tack stitching at the corners to prevent tearing. It's large enough for small toys, snacks, or a child's hands, but not so cavernous that items get lost. We double-stitch the pocket seam because it's one of the highest-wear zones on any kids' hoodie.
